THE START OF SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL

Nick and Dayna would love to tell you they met in a romantic twist of fate involving a spilled latte and a runaway puppy. The truth is, they have no idea how they met!

They were acquaintances for years until their mutual friend John tried to "subtly" set them up at a Sounders game. But the timing wasn't right and they spent another two years sad and alone in the world of online dating. Then one night in February 2014, they were at a party and realized they both had an interest in Icelandic ambient rock music...by the end of the night they had made tentative plans to fly to Chile and hike the mountains of Patagonia.

The trip was an overly ambitious idea, but by April they had gone on a date...and as they say, the rest was history!

HOW HE ASKED

Nick had visited Italy after college and had fallen in love with Siena--the walled town in the middle of Tuscany is beautiful.

When he found out he and Dayna were headed to Italy for his sister's wedding, he thought it'd be a perfect place to propose.

He talked to his sister about it, not wanting to steal her thunder--she was super pumped about it. With that, all Nick had to do was not let Italian thieves take the ring for a few days, find a way to get Dayna up on the wall at sunset, and not trip over his words when asking.

After fiddling around in his pocket trying to get the ring out, the cat was out of the bag and he barely made it onto his knee before she said yes.
